Université Grenoble Alpes

The Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) is a large, public research university, enrolling about 45,000 students, and accredited by the French government. Because of its strategic position, surrounded by three mountain ranges, Vercors, Chartreuse and Belledonne, the UGA is a major international research center in mountain studies. Taught by experts in a wide range of disciplines — geology, data sciences, history, economics, architecture, and more — this course will also provide students with real case studies in a series of feld trips to the mountains nearby Grenoble. The teaching staff has a strong background in advanced concepts and methods deriving from disciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research in mountain studies and will share their skills in new technologies, such as 3D numerical modeling, geographic information system and remote sensing.
