International Summer Institute for Business Management (ISIBM)

The ISIBM program is a 3 or 4 week undergraduate level program which provides an overview of the Canadian business environment and aims to develop a fundamental understanding of the skills and tools necessary to succeed in today’s global marketplace and how service organizations can best design themselves. Students come from all over the world and from various different disciplines to improve their business knowledge. Gain credits from your home university while enjoying the beautiful west coast of Canada. The program combines academic programing with fun, extracurricular activities.
Program highlights for 2021:
Available to all undergraduate and postgraduate students from any discipline (business or non-business)
Program dates are July 4-27 or August 2-22, 2021
Tuition fee:
- July: CAD$4,800 + 5% GST
- August: CAD$4,650 + 5% GST
Tuition includes on-campus accommodation, course materials, class-related field trips and extra-curricular activities which may include a whale watching cruise,visit to a night market, tour of Victoria, world-famous Butchart Gardens and more.
Program content:
Module 1: Business Communications
Student's capabilities in written communication, oral presentation and non-verbal communication are developed and enhanced within a business and management context. Report and technical writing, presentation preparation, public speaking, business etiquette, negotiation skills, time management and inter-personal communication skills are among the topics emphasized. The ISIBM integrates business communications with service management and students will make presentations on the core business challenges discussed in service management.
Module 2: Business Management
There are three components in this module to help students develop a fundamental understanding of the skills and tools necessary to succeed in today’s global marketplace through the three steps of business growth:
Entrepreneurship (starting a business)
Service Management (Ensuring success)
