Capital Game concepts

Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences

With billions of players worldwide, video and board games have conquered the planet. At the heart of their success is the art of game design: the discipline of creating engaging systems and immersive challenges appealing to the imagination.

Have you always wondered how your favorite games were designed or do you want to step into the shoes of a game designer? This is the course for you!

This course will guide you through the process of creating game concepts, from the initial idea to a tested design.

You will discover the key elements that you can use to create interesting challenges for your future players: objectives, resources, rules, etc. and have the opportunity to get familiar with these techniques during interactive lectures and workshops.

HOW THE COURSE IS ORGANIZED

You will

- go through an ideation phase, progressing toward a testable prototype.

- learn how to iterate quickly and organize playtest sessions.

- give and receive feedback from other players/designers.

- get to experience the tension and excitement of watching others play your game.

After two weeks you will be able to present and demo your favorite concept.
